Jen and Mike chose to do their Engagement shoot in New York City. I never say no to an opportunity to photograph in New York. We were actually threatened with rain the morning of, but the skies cleared in time for our shoot and the wind was blowing like crazy. Like knock you over windy. There were quite a few times I had to up my shutter just so I could keep a sharp picture due to the fact that I wasn’t able to keep my stance and keep my lens steady.

We started off in Grand Central. I love shooting in Grand Central because it is such a grand place (which is probably how it got it’s name) with such history.  However, I have to say, the lighting can be muddy and not the best for a photographer. While I was waiting for Jen and Mike to show up I sat for a few minutes and thought about how I was going to tackle this specific Grand Central Engagement! Then I saw the light…and I mean that literally. There was one patch (and really there was only this one patch) of light that seeped through from a window up above. It was a very small patch but just enough to put Jen and Mike in if they cuddled up close to each other. I figured that wouldn’t be an issue with them! It was a partly cloudy day so I had to be quick to shoot and then patient for the light to return. It was worth it. Thank you little patch of light!

We hailed a cab to the meat packing industry and shot along some of the streets there and made our way up to the Highline! On this windy day it was a challenge for sure! Woo boy was it windy!

We did notice this little painted sign on the side of the road while we were pulling up in the cab. The painters were there painting the wall so I guess we made it just in time!

Jen works from CONAIR and she does some hand modeling there when needed…so I utilized her talents! ;o) She does great work!

One of the things I love about shooting Engagements in NYC, besides getting to know my couples, is that you never know what you’re going to come away with from the day. Yellow never was in my mind when the possibilities were flowin’ prior to the shoot. I LOVE yellow and it worked with Jen’s cute Anthropologie dress. So we went with it!

There was a man sitting right behind me when I was up on this bench. I felt bad asking him to move so I worked around him in hopes that he’d move for me…but he didn’t! ;o)

Up on the  highline…which was ferociously windy. That’s me over there to the right in case you were wondering! ;o)

Don’t worry…I took one without me in it so Jen and Mike don’t always have to be reminded of me! ;o)
