I had the pleasure of shooting Jen and Chris’ wedding! It was actually funny how it all came to be! I was told by my friend Dave that he referred someone to me, but that they might be planning on having a family member go ahead and photograph the wedding. (that’s how I remember it anyway!) Then my friend/past client Kelly, who is a travel agent, had also referred me to Jen, when she met with her to plan her honeymoon. So Jen called and we met and enjoyed a long chat about how Chris and her met. I didn’t hear back for a while. The whole time I had no  idea that Jen was the one that my friend Dave referred to me! So long story short…I am hanging out with Dave and his wife, Trish, and Trish says…”So,I guess you’ll be shooting Jen’s wedding in December! She said she met with you!” It wasn’t until then that I realized that Jen was the one Dave was originally talking about and to me, and also the one Kelly referred to me. Much like Jen and Chris… I guess we were meant to cross paths!

I am SO unbelievably honored to have been chosen to photograph Jen and Chris’ wedding day! Their day was anything but out of the ordinary, with a MAJOR snow storm in the forecast (they were calling for 2 feet of snow…not inches…FEET!!) Jen and Chris went on with the show and it ended up falling into place and made for a romantic, snowy evening! You couldn’t ask for anything more for these two! They are meant to be and as usual…love conquers ALL! Even 2 feet of snow! ;o)

The reception was held at Fox Hill Inn in Brookfield, Ct.

So here are my favorites…Enjoy!

We had very little time to do the formals in actual light so we ended up shooting some indoors, not too mention it was about 19 degrees out! ;o)

Just last Saturday I hosted the OUTSIDE the BOX Workshop in my home and enjoyed the company of 5 lovely people! I couldn’t be happier with how the day went and I can’t believe the amount of information that was packed inside this VERY full workshop day! Originally it was supposed to be from 9am until 5pm but there was so much to talk about, shoot, and learn that we ended up extending the workshop by 3 hours! I could’ve gone later but I think the group was getting sick of me! ;o) Honestly, I was so thrilled to have had the opportunity to share what I have experienced, learned and encountered along my business and photography journey and I was so happy to do help them as much as I did! Hopefully they all take away something that will inspire and strengthen their shooting / business skills so they will have an easier time on their journey into this CRAZY (but fun) life that a wedding and portrait photographer leads! I started my business from scratch, a blank page if you wish, and it has been built on pride, quality, faith, hope, and never-ending learning (sometimes the hard way…”I have to buy WHAT now in order for that to work??? Uggggghhhhh”). So for me to be able to give to others the knowledge and experience that I have gained is the least that I can do for those of you who are just starting out and may be feeling A LOT… overwhelmed).

In a nutshell, I got a great response from the group and I think it was such a hit that I will open my doors (and brain) to you again and offer another OUTSIDE the BOX Workshop in February!

Below is the information for you! If you are interested in attending or have ANY questions please feel free to call me at the studio: 203-791-8969 or send me an email!outsidetheboxinfopageFEB February OUTSIDE the BOX Workshop!

Have a Happy Friday!

Happy New Year to you all! I am very excited to be FINALLY getting back in touch with you and sharing with you my upcoming posts and news! I still have a ton to share with you all! Life has been beyond crazy and the holidays were anything but normal in my home. We were sick, and by we I mean the whole family, and then my Grandpa was in the hospital (he’s doing much better now. He is 96 years old and still going strong!). Not to mention I am in the midst of finishing up 2009 weddings and shoots and am now onto 2010 with the work rolling in early this year! Oh yeah…and preparing for the Outside the Box Workshop I am hosting this Saturday! Okay…no wonder my head has been spinning! Life has certainly been anything but drab and boring!

So I just got word that my images are featured on Tulaloo Stationary Studio’s Blog! Jessica Creter is the lovely and talented designer who created all of Lauran and Carlos’s programs, table cards, and menus at their beautiful backyard country wedding back in September! She does beautiful work and you should check out her stationary and designs!

So off to finally catch some shut eye and will be back shortly with lots of images and news!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR and HAPPY THURSDAY!

Back in July I shot an awesome engagement session in New York City with Michele and JP, who are getting married later this fall! They have been together for a decade (or more…I think) and they are so cute together! Michele and JP’s relationship for quite some time has included NYC, one way or another, and it was important to them to incorporate that into their shoot! I of course, LOVE going to NYC and will jump at the chance to do so whenever possible. Any little excuse I have to go there and I am on a train!

So speaking of trains…We first met at Grand Central which is where they would meet up to see each other when they first started dating!

There was a Nelson Mandela exhibit at Grand Central at the time so I figured it would be cool to include that in a couple shots…

using the ones that I thought would be appropriate for an engagement session!
