I don’t normally blog anything about my personal life or family, but I couldn’t resist sharing this story with you! I gave my son a little snack a couple of weeks ago, some strawberries and yogurt to be exact! My thinking was to leave the (full) container of strawberries on the table for him to pick at as I proceeded to do some straightening up around the house. When I came back into the kitchen I saw he decided to take one single bite from every single strawberry in the box.
and strategically placed them in a line! ;o)
Too funny! I suppose the rest of ALL the strawberries had something wrong with them!
Okay…Three words that describe Vinny and Kristen are “Two Cool People”. They are just about the most fun I have had on an Engagement shoot. I really have fun on all my shoots ;o) but this one especially. It all started when Kristen told me they chose to do their shoot at Fairfield Hills in Newtown CT. For anyone who is not aware of the history of this place, which is now a park and open to the public, you should click on the link I provided. It is a place like no other. It is an old state run mental hospital that has fascinated me since I can remember. There are underground tunnels running through out the property so in winter weather the facility could run as normal. They transported patients from building to building through the dimly lit tunnels. Since it has closed down in the mid 90’s it has been broken into repeatedly from curious people. Actually we had the cops check on us while we were shooting because they noticed we had a ladder and thought we might be breaking in. They also filmed the movie ”Sleepers” with Kevin Bacon there too. Most of the stories that you hear about Fairfield Hills are pretty terrible. Labotomies performed on patients on a regular basis, solitary rooms that they were kept in for days with out any human contact, and drugging patients are just a few of the stories past from one to another. We shot for about 2 1/2 hours and I feel like I just cracked the surface with shooting at the hospital. I NEED to go back before they tear down all the buildings.
Since we are entering into the month of Halloween, and because of the many ghost stories you here about Fairfield Hills, I wanted to give at least one picture a ghostly effect. And I wanted to portray Vinny as a Mac Daddy having three woman and all!
The textures of the deteriorating buildings provided some great photo ops.
This is a plaque that is part of the foundation at one of the buildings…stating the date to which that unit of the hospital was started…
I am sure this is how some patients felt about their stay at the hospital…a little play on words…
Vinny and Kristen “GET” photography. They were great with letting me experiment…and Vinny actually requested a shot similar to this effect and I had by chance been wanting to experiment with it…So the result is an ad that I shoud think about selling to Double Mint Gum! ;o)
Outside a small greenhouse that I think the patients at one point helped out with as an occupational therapy type thing.
Vinny could tell you some stories about what lurks behind the walls of this building!
The ring…
Thank you so much for choosing the coolest spot ever to take pics guys! Hope you enjoy!
I shot Laura and Lane’s wedding on August 26th in Hartford at The Goodwin Hotel. It was a very relaxed day and I had so much fun and came away with some great shots for them! I didn’t necessarily post them in order, but I hope you enjoy!
Laura, the bride, getting ready at a nearby salon.
The rings, there was only one to work with! Long story.
We took a little walk around downtown Hartford for some fun and easy formals! I love doing these in urban areas!
These are out of order, like I mentioned…but you get the picture!
I love shoes and sleigh beds, and so I used both for the next couple pics!
I like this shot of her…
The flowers were so pretty…
the after party:

Congrats Laua and Lane!
I shot a bridal / trash the dress session with my friend Eric Langlois a few weeks ago. We had a lot of fun and got some cool shots from the shoot. Amber was our beautiful bride and she was such a trooper, getting into swampy muddy water with her wedding dress on! We owe her! She never complained once. Here are a few of my favorites from the day! Enjoy! You can check out Eric’s pics at his blog by clicking here.
Amber looks gorgeous here…
This was the huge pipe-line in which my 28mm lens bounced off of and landed about 20 feet below…and was still tickin’…now that is lucky!
I love the mood of this pic…the light was perfect. I was in about a foot of mud to get this shot.
